iLUMY energy meter is a smart meter that monitors energy usage at the consumer end of a micro grid environment and has a provision to cut off the supply when the energy purchased is fully consumed.
The smart meter is designed to be charged by a contact-less method. The same technology is also used to read the consumers usage history. A 2-line display provides end-user with an ability to view balance charge and last amount recharged at any point in time. The meter also clearly prompts user before existing charge would run over.
The smart meter works in conjunction with an app running on an Android cell phone. This app provides a user interface to the operator to add charge specific to customer need and download the usage information. It is also linked to a cloud server for storage, analysis and billing purposes.
The user interface to the smart meter is through a mobile app running on an Android phone with NFC capability.
Our solution offers full pre-paid model through the value chain. The app is tied to a grid and is programmed for use with the meters in that grid, and can be used to perform the following operations:
Upload amount to be charged (minimum charging amount is settable)
Download usage data from the meters and upload to cloud server
A grid controller monitors several parameters on the generation side. These include generation of energy from solar panels, the energy pumped into the batteries as well as the energy pushed into the grid. All aspects of power generation are monitored to understand and help optimize the system performance, and longevity. The grid controller can monitor and report local faults, while making them available for remote monitoring at the same time.
All data thus generated is uploaded to the cloud server, where the data can be analyzed on its own, as well as combined with the data uploaded from the meters.
The iLUMY system is a customizable solution for microgrids, that can be expanded over time. Pricing is a function of the type of grid, and the desired monitoring and reporting capabilities. It could range from a simple pre-paid metering system to start with, to a more complex one that offers remote monitoring and analytics.
